Dx CRAC Unit installation Cost Estimation

CRAC Unit Installation Tendering & Cost Estimation
Co
- The copper pipes type used for installation of CRAC unit Dx is Hard copper pipes mostly type L is widely used for high pressure applications
pp
- Copper pipes Qty estimated according to the number of cooling circuits Ex. If the distance between indoor & out door unit is 10 M and the unit has a single cooling circuit so total Copper pipes Qty needed = 20 M

- In case there're 2 circuits you'll have to double it so u need 40 M of copper pipes & so on
Pip
- Copper pipes diameter depend on the vertical and horizontal routing from the indoor to outdoor unit and diameter shall be recommended by the supplier of the unit and in the same time depends on unit type and configurations " all suppliers have their own software's for piping diameter connection or selection ranges

- The copper pipes is the most expensive part of the installation so don't underestimate it specially if the distance between the in door & out door unit is too long ( copper pipes estimation shall include, oil traps, elbows and check/ shutoff valves )

All Suppliers & contractors by Practical experience have estimated rate for single meter of copper pipes includes, Installation Accessories, Flushing, Pressurizing & Refrigerant charge 

Control
Control cable connects the indoor unit to the outdoor unit and shall be put in consideration while estimating the whole package cost and the specs of the cable shall be advised by supplier
Cable
Control Cable / Cables qty is the same as the routing length between the indoor and outdoor unit

Some manufacturers need only one control cable between indoor & out door units and some suppliers maybe ask for2 or 3 cables so you’ve to ask your supplier to precisely estimate the cost 

Steel
Steel Base is needed for the indoor unit to be located on it in all cases, Down flow/ up flow/ down front flow/ up front flow ...ect
Base
Steel base shall be with regulator to be tolerated with the raised floor to guarantee the best performance and steel base dimensions & specs always provided by the supplier according to the machine weight and dimensions and raised floor height

Its better to ask for a galvanized steel elbow to redirect the flow of cool air in case of down flow CRAC unit type

Power
Power cables shall be provided for each unit separately so you estimate a power cable for the indoor unit & separate power cable to the out door unit
Cable
Cables specs provided by the supplier
MCC
MCC panel cost shall be estimated during tendering and mostly suppliers don't give you estimation of the MCC cost as most of contractors put it in the electrical supplier / contractor scope but in case of operation the CRAC unit shall review & approve the MCC panel wiring as he may need some breaker or special needs for his own unit

In case the datacenter is in the basement or any other level lower than the drainage level in that case you'll need to consider a condensate pump in your estimation and supplier offer must include it

you shall ask the CRAC unit supplier for a smoke detector or you put it's cost in consideration with fire alarm package

you shall ask the CRAC unit supplier for a water leakage sensor so in case of leakage the unit stop and give alarm

If u have BMS in your building so you've to ask the supplier to add BMS Card compatible with your BMS protocol before manufacturing

If u have several units in the same room and want to control operation sequence by 1 unit as master unit and others as sleeves you've to consider cost of CAT 6 A cable to connect all units together ( same idea of Pc network in any office if u got what i mean )

Don't forget to coordinate with civil department to make a concrete base for the out door unit to be installed on it Base width = Condenser width + 20:40 CM Base length = Condenser width + 20:40 CM Base Hight = 30 :40 CM Max you can find condenser dimension in the unit datasheet but you've to double check with the supplier sometimes it's not precise due to selection software bugs and in case of having multi condensers for 1 indoor unit you may need steel structure support to fix it safely and correctly

Don’t forget to check with the architecture or Civil the Hight of the Raised floor !
U need Min. 50 CM Clear under the raised floor for smooth airflow 

If the raised floor height is less than 50 CM in downflow CRAC unit u have to ask the Arch. to modify it as it will affect his cost  estimation for the raised floor package
